The Tech School is a vital part of the Public School System. It allows a choice for students and teaches many necessary trades for our society.

I am currently involved in the gifted program. I love that I am able to interact with students from other schools. The students are like me, but different in their own ways. The gifted program has taught me that I think differently from other people and that's okay. I enjoy the extra activities I am able to do through the gifted program. I am able to learn at a faster pace than I would be able to at normal school. I enjoy getting to learn at a faster pace. I also enjoy learning in unique ways. I enjoy gifted program. The gifted program means a lot to me. I want to keep attending gifted the way it is.

My child participates in the gifted program at the tech school as I did back in the 80's. Feeling a sense of belonging can make a big difference in a child's motivation to learn. My child looks forward, each week, to being with a group of kids who share his sometimes quirky and wide ranging interests. I'm concerned that this critical mass will be lost if the program is dispersed into the home schools. I'm also concerned about programs such as FIRST robotics and Model U.N. How will Limestone County Schools insure that these opportunities will remain available for students?

I attended the Gifted Program from 3rd grade until graduation from Clements High school in 2011. Just this past weekend, I saw my elementary and high school gifted teachers at the FIRST Robotics Rocket City Regional. Looking back over the memories and seeing where I am now, it made me appreciate even more what they themselves and the program has done for me over the years.
The Gifted Program provides an enormous amount of outlets and programs to a student that never would be available in a normal setting. I was given so many opportunities to pursue areas of interest that I had during high school throughout the program, and actually encouraged to do so.
The robotics team is only available to students who attend the tech school. Without the gifted program, many students who are on the team would never have been able to join one of the best programs ever to be available in Limestone county. Team 34 exposes students to STEM fields, which include the highest paying and in demand jobs in America, and that exposure would not be near as great without it.
Now working at one of Birmingham's fastest growing startups and owning a very successful tech startup myself, I have no doubt that without the Gifted Program, these things would not have been possible.
Let's keep a program with a proven success record as it is and provide them with MORE resources. Don't take away from one of the few things in the Limestone educational system that provides more opportunity for exceptional minds. The Limestone County BoE should be an example to all others in the state by pushing programs such as Gifted and Robotics.

Please do not change this program. If it's not broke, there's no need to "fix" it.

Previously being in the program for many years myself, children are always under fire either by students or some teachers. Moving to the home school could be more detramental to the child's enriched learning and give the home schools more negative control over the child's participation in the program.

Leave the Limestone County Gifted Education Program alone. It's one of the few things working well.

Getting rid of this program will be a huge mistake and keeping children in the future from having an opportunity like this is really cruel.

The gifted program was amazing when I was there, and it served an important part in me choosing my undergraduate major and career path. Limestone County needs this program to help give the gifted students something they don't get at their home schools. We were able to meet people through out the county and form relationships with them. We were able to go into an environment of learning different than that of our home schools. Limestone County needs this program to stay where it is at. Plus if they were to move the program to their home schools you would be paying for many more teachers. I hope that one day Limestone County stops trying to hurt this wonderful program. It is one of the best in the state, why hurt something so good?

My sister and I are both in the gifted program and it has opened my eyes to many new things. my sister is on the robotics team and if you move it to the schools it's taking away so many opportunities... moving gifted to the schools will limit and take away from us because it will only be for one hour and if you can go that hour is taken away....school is hard for regular students and then you have gifted it takes away from us because school is harder. and the relationship we have with other gifted students is very important because we need the interaction with people who actually understand us .....
