This petition focuses on a very important subject, and should be honored as such. Eliminating the competitive aspect of marching band would be detrimental for these students and induces a domino effect of unfortunate events. These students spend just too much time and energy out on the field to not have it worth anything, and the effects of this activity, all physically, emotionally, personal, interpersonal, etc... are often underestimated. Please do not deprive these students of what might even be the only reason for them to keep hanging on.

Some of the best life lessons I learned were taught to me through marching band. I wouldn't be who I am because of it. Do not take the opportunity for these young adults to grow away from them.

Having arranged their shows for the past two years, I have grown very close with the program and would hate to see it go. Keep the marching arts alive!!!

Why would you ever get rid of a school's marching band?? It's tradition, and the getting rid of it would tear many apart. I know if it were my marching band, it would tear me apart. It is one of the biggest parts of my life, as well as countless others. I could go on..

As an alum, and a mother of "band geeks" I am appalled that this is what you think is a wise move! I'm sure if you thought real hard you could easily find ways to trim the fat from your budget: let's start with bonuses, fat paychecks and dead weight! Our children should NEVER be the victims of budget cuts!

Marching band is one of the joys in school and to see it lessened is a great sadness.

I, as a member of the band the past four years, am outraged at this. The whole purpose of me joining band back in fifth grade was to be able be a part of this marching band and COMPETE.

It seems that many arts programs are not equally weighted in importance relative to other high school programs. The competitive marching band program is one of the only high school programs which allows students to expand creativity and express passion. Studies have shown that creativity & passion are vital to economic & societal growth because of how the human spirit rallies. To stunt our society's growth by discontinuing CHSs competitive Marching Band Program would truly be a death for our young students.

Cudahy has an excellent marching band program that should stay. Marching has changed my life as a two year veteran of the Pioneer Drum and Bugle Corps. Let the next years of kid have something they love continue on.

I have to be honest I do not know any of these people. I am a member of my high schools band in Texas, but anyone that trys to get rid of music programs in schools must be stopped! Music does a lot of good for students and can benefit them later in life. Keep at it fellow band friends!!

The Winter Guard has vastly helped improve the color guard. Maybe allow some of the kids from Orchestra and Choir to pich in. There is a long tradition with the marching band in Cudahy, please don't let it die.
