The fact that the band has been doing fantastic the last few years (Guard Caption award, 3rd place at State) just shows that this is the staff and administration being lazy.

It would be a shame to take away the competitive aspect of the marching band at Cudahy. For the students involved, marching band and specifically the competition aspect has become a major part of their life. Dedication, hard work, working together as a team, and self-discipline are only a few of the important character traits students will build by participating in competitive marching band AND important life lessons that students will carry with them for the rest of their life's. As an alumi of the Cudahy Marching Band, 1999-2002, I can not say enough things about the great experience I had. Anything that the students are so passionate about and is a positive experience for them should not so easily be tossed to the wayside.

The marching band experience provided great life lessons about working hard and persevering to the finish. Cudahy has a history of good music programs in the public schools. Don't let this wonderful program be eliminated so easily. This is worth saving!

The CHS Marching Band had such an impact on my life, from musical accomplishments to real-life applications of the things I learned. Marching with the band was a privilege to be a part of, and I would hate to see everything we worked toward to go to waste simply because the people who decide have not chosen what is best for the students, for the community, and for the future of our small, but not insignificant music department. The community and camaraderie in a marching band is vastly different from that of a concert band or other musical group in that we work harder not just musically, but physically, together to achieve a common goal: winning a competition against other regional schools. Concert band is great! Playing the Romeo and Juliet overture in college was one of the most exhilarating moments of the year. However, that sort of exhilaration, the kind you get when you do something which, at first glance, seems impossible, becomes all the more magnified when you can play challenging music and march in flawless formation. Friendships are built that go deeper and last longer than they do in any other class. You may not remember who your lab partner was the first time you dissected something, but you're sure to remember the people who were closest to you in band; your section members, the people you march next to, friends of upperclassmen who bestow every bit of knowledge to you about marching and playing and not hitting yourself in the face with your instrument. In short, I would be a different, dare I say, lesser person had I not had the opportunity to march with the Pride of Cudahy, the Cudahy High School Marching Band. (Seriously, that's how we were announced.) Please let them march again.

come on guys we started wsma lets not loss the marching band now. where is our school spirit? We may not be big like we used to be when our parents went there but we still work hard and we have come along way, we arent taking last place anymore we are getting third and fourth place out of all the bands in our class and if that doesnt show improvement then what does? The marching band brings people togehter that may not ever talk to outside of marching band or even band, WE become a family and a family protects what is theirs.

I only went to Lincoln Elementary, but stayed in contact with so many people who were a part of this program. I have heard and seen amazing things come out of them and it would be a shame to see such a wonderful program not be able to compete. Best of luck! It would be devastating to see this go.
