You both as parents agreed to their name at the time of birth. it was a mutual agreement. if they want to change theirnlast name, they can do it at age 18. this is the last bit of their dad that they can hold onto. No way I would change my childrens last name to mine if their father died tragically.

He is the biological father of the boys and he died. He didn't run from the responsibilities of them and their Grandmother and Grandfather are very much in their lives. They will help to keep their father's memory alive. Honestly, being a child of deceased parent's myself, the money from his social security should be put into a fund at the bank to make sure that the money is spent on them and not used for unneeded items. I'm sure the mother will get plenty of assistance from the state to help support those boys.They deserve to make that decision late in life if they feel the need. It is a family legacy and one that should be preserved.

first, what bothers me, is the requst to sign "to carry on the name." I just dont agree with that. But, I do believe the name should be left alone. Brad was their father. Let the boys have that!!.

This saddens me to think that these boys lost their father who loved them he did not abandon them they should be able to carry his last name as they are the only heirs to the last name!Please don't allow the boys to loose their last name!

I agree with Cindy Esselman, Brad passed away. Not by his own being, but in an accident. His boys need and deserve to keep their name. Their mother should be ashamed of herself for even thinking such a thing. These two young boys lost their father and now she wants to take the only thing personally that belongs to him. (SHAME ON YOU)

Let the boys honor their father by carrying on his name. They can make the decision to change it when they're older if that's what THEY want. The mother should be helping her boys grieve the loss of their father, not being petty or spiteful.
