Players Choice: Keep Existing Celluloid Table Tennis Balls

This change probably impacts millions of recreational players and comes at the expense of the very people who are contributing the most to the "economy" of table tennis. Changing balls does nothing to promote the game to new players and only alienates the existing table tennis players. In a couple of years the rubber technology will improve again to make the change in ball non-relevant. And so why change the ball in the first place? To disrupt the enjoyment of the game for those us who ACTUALLY play the game and buy rubber, balls, enter tournaments, etc... And let's not even get into the quality of the new balls. What good is charging twice as much but quality goes down 50%? I broke two brand new balls within a span of 2hrs of playing. Really??

I also had this problem. At $2 a piece, one match will cost on average $4 to play. I plan to return the balls for a full refund.

Plastic ball is really bad. I consider quiting tabletennis, if I have to play plastic ball.

Plastic balls only marketing, new blades, new rubbers and more money. No spin, no technical game. Las bolas nuevas son una basura, me estoy planteando dejar este deporte que tanto me gusta. Ha dejado de tener sentido, son globos no hay efectos la bola no gira, la tecnica adquirida durante tantos años no sirve para nada, los puntos mucho mas cortos. Se acabaron los intercambios de top spin. Son bolas hechas para mete bolas y bloqueadores, los saques flotan, estamos federados jugando muchos años a este gran deporte y parece que juguemos en el decathlon con Inesis. No voy a entrar en el juego de nuevos materiales adaptados a estas bolas que las quiten y punto sino muy a pesar mio el año que viene dejaré de jugar por la sencilla razon que no me divierto jugando así.

The plastic balls are of poor quality.

Necesitamos una pelota que vaya bien. No tenernos que adaptar a los defectos de una pelota mal fabricada.

We, the players, don't want these change and didn't see a real reason for it. The game with new balls is not that funny and beautiful like before. The less spin, less tactic and less possibilities. We want the celuloid ball back to our lives! They told us the transport of celuloid balls are too expensive so the balls are flamables, but the new balls are more expensive now... the only thing 3 stars balls have of the 3 stars balls it's the price...

The pvc balls are not even round and the cheap ones are expensive as 3star celluloid balls

Keep the celuloid ball.

Plastic 3* ball are worse than bad training balls and 3 times expensive. There isn't any logic justification.

Why fix something that isn't broken? Keep the celluloid balls.

The poly ball is here to stay and I don't think seamless will be in the cards. The balls I have seen, Nittaku and Joola, both had seams and I couldn't tell the difference. There is no doubt that some top players will be affected, bit the goal is to be environmentally responsible and make the game more exciting with longer rallies.

Depending on the make and model of your robot, the new balls may work fine. Newgy said they tried them on one of their machines and had no trouble.

I HATE THE NEW BALL. DO NOT CHANGE IT JUST FOR THE SAKE OF CHANGE IT. THE REASON STATED IS NOT EVEN ENOUGH TO CHANGE THE PROPERTIES OF THE BALL.
