This is a ridiculous idea, use some common sense council, no more bus lanes - cars need to get around

Link road through to banwell, Sanford, Winscombe etc. and the A38!

Local residents use this link to get to local supermarkets, Worle, the railway station. It makes no sense to stop this route as all the traffic from Banwell and all the new planned housing will have to go through airport roundabout, which already suffers congestion. The planned link road through Locking still hasn’t opened. This was planned for summer 2020 but this trough route is still closed. The plans make no sense and will inconvenience local residents and impede residents of the planned housing surrounding the bypass.

What a crazy idea.

The roads through Banwell are interlinked when it comes to jointly handling the through traffic. When cars can no longer depend on Wolvershill, they choose to go through Riverside and Church street. This road is little more than a tarmaced farm track, with a single lane. Houses are on the edge of the road in Church street with traffic half a meter from front walls. The surface is collapsing. Please don’t force this to continue.

Life line for my elderly dad

Once the bypass is in place, the people who will be using Wolvershill Road will be people who either live in the village,, visiting someone in the village, delivering to someone in the village or supporting a business in the village. (It would not benefit people to use it as a cut through as with the bypass it would have no gain to use this route as a cut through) By closing this route, it will enforce traffic back into the village to reroute a longer journey, increasing omissions, cutting off businesses, which in turn will increase delivery charges and force customers to go elsewhere. There is absolutely no benefit to the village by closing Wolvershill Road.

This is a regular route for us to Worle and the M5. The close of the bridge would add time and distance to the journey and add to congestion on the A370/A371 from the Runway roundabout to the M5 junction at peak times, thus increasing air pollution in the area. It would be better to keep Wolvershill bridge open and even improve Wolvershill Road from the bridge to the new Banwell by-pass.

This would be a disaster for local residents and will increase traffic along Riverside.

The permanent closure will also impede ability to enter and exit the wes Tom village estate, as seem during the recent temporary closure. This caused traffic blocked trying to enteri the estate to clog up thecA roads even further, prevented traffic from leaving the estate, backing up traffic through the estate (at its worst this led to a 10 Mon journey becoming over an hour), road rage incidents within the traffic stuck in the jams, and several accidents on the roundabouts entering the estates, as folk tried to exit, due to no gaps from on roundabout increased traffic volume, on already heavily congested rush hour routes. There ate zero alternate options for folk who live in the estate to enter and exit without impact.

As a resident of Cheddar who uses Worle station to get to Bristol for work, this closure would add significant time to my commute. I might as well drive to Bristol - so how’s that for trying to get people out of cars and into public transport?!

this is a bad idea the alternatives will add to congestion the Rolstone /riverside route is single track badly maintained and the one sat navs like to take unsuspecting drivers, it comes out into the middle of Banwell on a narrow section and basically a bind bend with single track access. this will course more congestion in the centre of the village the other day I was coming up to the junction when a car going a little to fast started to turn in fortunately there was nothing close behind when the breaks went on and instead of the car half in the junction backing out I was forced to back down to the corner. if there had been a lot of cars this would not have been possible and if there had been vehicles directly behind the one trying to enter this would have more problems. What if larger vehicles don't know what they are getting into?? the other route available round by the main road the A371 that road has not long been remodelled to accommodate the new homes etc on the old RAF base.! the remodel has taken in new markings at the Locking Grove entrance which are not suitable for those turning right after the M5 Bridge. Extra traffic from the closure will affect and worry those who have to turn right as there is no allowance in markings and road structure for them to do so. In all this is a very badly thought out plan putting a lot of pressure on the surrounding area with is unsuitable.

Absolutely ludicrous idea. This would stop access to well established businesses and cause mayhem on other parts of Banwell being used as cut throughs!

I travel from Axbridge to Worle everyday for work and my journey takes long enough as it is. If I have to go all the way round the main road and join the traffic heading out of Weston on the already massively busy dual carriageway. It’s really disappointing and means an extra 20 mins or more sat in traffic!!!!!

The petition says it all. Keep the Wolvershill bridge open . Banwell community struggled enough with heavy traffic and its drawbacks.
