Keep Wolvershill bridge open: A lifeline for our community!

Closing that road would have a big issue with traffic in the village & surrounding areas.

Shutting a bridge over a motorway just for cyclists ans buses is the most ludicrous idea anyone could come up with, it splits the parish in half with no direct vehicle access from one part to the other, who ever thought of this needs sectioning and place in an asylum

Re the proposed closure of Wolvershill Road at the M5 bridge to vehicular traffic (except buses and bicycles). There is no logical reason why “Active Travel” and vehicular travel should be mutually exclusive. This would mean getting to Worle/Locking will involve a dog leg via the A371 out past the Helicopter Museum, or out to the new north/south link road (not yet joined up) or via the J21 relief road for which there's no commitment as yet. Residents in the new development will have to drive down to the bypass and go around one of the routes above and blockage elsewhere ie excessive traffic using airfield roundabout and the A370 dual carriageway, while causing difficulties for local traffic using Morrisons and Worle for shopping. It will mean all the additional 2800 houses traffic will have to exhaust down onto the bypass and out to the airport roundabout, causing pollution hotspots to get to the M5. If anything the bridge should be a feature to get the traffic out of the development and onto the M5. Local traffic tends to avoid traffic hotspots, which it would be necessary to use if this idea is implemented. Thus making an already poor situation a nightmare, eg be forced onto a country lane with blind bends and crumbling under the current traffic - Silvermoor Lane, West Rolstone Road, Riverside - these roads can’t cope with the current amount of traffic , as has been proven with the current closure of Wolvershill Road and Summer Lane, let alone any more! The road surface is disintegrating and the verges gradually falling into the rhynes as it is. Traffic coming from Sandford/Winscombe directions will I think be tempted to make even more use of Church Street/Riverside as a rat run if they're heading towards Worle/Locking.  It should possible to build a cycle path alongside the road, even if it means widening the bridge slightly. Action needs to be taken to prevent the closure of Wolvershill Road to cars etc. Please ensure that the road is not clos

Closing this bridge which is a vital link between worle j21 and banwell is apsolutely the wrong thing to do , it will increase response times from the nearby police response station in worle to any incidents that may occur in banwell or other outlying villages nearby , potentially putting lives at risk . Furthermore closing this road will force traffic through locking parklands and mead fields ones the link in this road is completed making a very busy road through a housing estate the new through road which will be particularly dangerous considering there are two schools on this alternative route where pedestrians will turn be in danger. Whilst I believe that the road should remain open to through traffic I do also believe it should be upgraded to allow a footpath / cockpit for more sustainable transport .

With this closed would cause more traffic in Banwell which would defeat the object of the bypass being built in the first place

This is a vital access as well as an alternative route to what would be a very congested A371 and adjoining routes.

Keep woolvershill Road open

Completely ridiculous it may look good on paper but the reality is that ver few people use active travel and public transport is unreliable, with the amount of housing proposed for the whole Weston super mare area the existing dual carriage way would just become grid locked

Keep the bridge . Such a stupid idea of closing it . Too many people need to use . Including the separation of banwell when there is no need .

2 800 houses north of the bypass. Possibly over 5000 cars. How many of these are trying to commute to Bristol for work? All will have to come south onto the bypass down to Airport roundabout to join the dual carriageway to the M5. Absolutely ridiculous. NSC are so out of touch with local people. Creating solution hotshots.

The whole point is to ease congestion. So why close another route when will all help with congestion!!!!

This would impact residents of Banwell and Stonebridge adding miles to a journey just to shop for fuel and food

Closing this road and bridge would have a detrimental effect on peoples businesses plus It would cut off people getting to and from Motorway junction going down the dual carriageway at the moment is taking longer Longer I work in St Georges now to travel down Summer lane every day going down the carriageway is now taking me half an hour to 45 minutes to get to work.

To shut off access to Wolvershill to cars would be moronic as displaced traffic would have to use much longer route to their destination. During the time that Wolvershill road has been shut my commute has been extended by 6 miles and 30 mins daily. With proposed additional houses in the area there will be additional strain on local roads so why close one!?

The traffic for the last 4 weeks has been horrible. It took 3 times longer to travel from Banwell to m5

Shutting the bridge on Wolvershill Road will just cause jams on the surrounding lanes, one of the most stupid ideas NSC has ever come up with

The bridge needs to be open for everyone
