Keep Wolvershill bridge open: A lifeline for our community!

I’m a Mead Fields resident, we come under Banwell. This ridiculous proposal will separate us from the rest of Banwell.

This road is essential for local traffic accessing Worle.

A joke of a suggestion

This will cut us in West Wick off more now than we already are making it near impossible to get in or out of the estate.

I am strongly opposed to the closure of Wolvershill road to vehicular access over the M5. Whilst I support an increase in active travels routes, and better walking routes for pedestrians, the closure to vehicles will make access to the train station at Worle from Banwell longer and more difficult. As a commuter to Bristol, the longer journey to the train station is likely to make travel by public transport significantly less attractive, which will push motorists onto the roads. Train travel is already expensive and less convenient than car travel. The lack of an effective bus service will also mean a lack of options. The road closure over the M5 is therefore likely to have a significant and detrimental environmental impact. Whilst I have historically travelled by train to Bristol for work, I would certainly need to reconsider this if the road closure is in place.

Don’t trap us in the village! This will cut us off and make getting out of our village a nightmare . Weston is already a traffic jam morning and evening without diverting all of the villages that way. This will push everyone into the narrow lanes.

Closing this bridge to public traffic would have a far more negative overall impact than benefits. Traffic would be sent into an already struggling infrastructure.

I simple 2 minute trip to support our local farm shop and gp, pharmacy etc would take 40 minute round trip with suggested route. Not everyone can walk or use public transport( which is not available from churchways rd)!

The bridge should be kept open to traffic to avoid greater issues. Very narrow minded, the bigger picture needs to be reviewed.

I live in west wick WSM and regularly and the wolvershill closure has already caused traffic chaos on the dual carriageway leading to and from West Wick and the surrounding area whilst wolvershill has been closed . My son has been late to 6th form at Beaufighter road due to the amount of conjestion due to the diversion in place whilst wolverhill road has been closed . I work nighshifts both at sandford station and wells and my journey is affected by this closure .

I agree Wolvershill needs to remain open. This is the quickest route to amenities that are not available in Banwell. Travelling extra mileage to get to the motorway and forcing traffic down the already busy stretch is really not helpful and unnecessary.

It will cause more congestion through Banwell, as locals always use that route to get to Worle area. Adding time and money using the long route round. Don't penalise the Banwell locals.

Closing this access bridge is short sighted and panders to a minority. It funnels traffic to an already congested longer route and will increase pollution, journey times and anger local residents. Building more houses in West Wick and the surrounding area then cutting off a road in and out for the majority of road users is quite simply stupid planning.

I purchased my property purely for the ease of access to the M5. This will devalue my property and also create unnecessary traffic through Kent avenue which is already congested.

Very opposed to this ridiculous idea. Just to tick the eco box! No thought of the extra miles, fuel and fumes created by sending vehicles a long unnecessary route around to reach M5 junction and rail station

This idea is moronic in its conception and will be a disaster in practice. All that additional (and growing) traffic hitting the only access between Weston Super Mare and the M5 at what is already a very busy roundabout. Gridlock.
