Keep Wolvershill bridge open: A lifeline for our community!

Closing this route would be madness.

Closing this road will only cause more traffic delays in an already heavy traffic delayed town.

Will efect the local business

Wolvershill Road has been closed for the past 3 weeks. This has reduced access through to the farm shop and supermarkets in Worle etc. I can see no benefit at all in closing this road at the motorway bridge.

Crazy idea to close it and force more traffic onto already congested other roads!

I support this petition as I it affect many life's for residents of Banwell

My children work at the Lock and code escape room just Iver the bridge and we live in Worle. No need to close the bridge and make us hard working parents lives harder!

Mother in law live in Winscombe and closing wolvershill road would make it very time consuming to get to her in an emergency. She is 80 with copd and lives alone.

Increased traffic on the airport roundabout will cause more delays and more pollution so very short sighted by NSC as usual.

The traffic over the past three weeks has been extremely challenging, particularly due to the closure of Wolvershill Road. I commute from Lower Weare to Weston for work, and the impact has been noticeable. For example, my partner has had to cancel my son’s 5:00pm swimming lessons at Brean Splash multiple times because we couldn’t reliably arrive on time. One evening, after finishing work at 5:00pm, the traffic was so severe that I couldn’t start my journey home until 7:30pm. This past Friday, it took me 1.5 hours to get home, primarily due to issues on the motorway compounded by the road closure. Morning commutes have been equally difficult, particularly when dropping my daughter off at Priory School. These recent conditions raise significant concerns regarding the current and planned infrastructure development in Weston and surrounding areas. It appears that North Somerset Council may not be fully considering the impact on Businesses at Gobbles Farm will.quite literally have their trade taken away if the road closes. With current pressures on small businesses they shoukd be supported by the Council rather than hindered further!

My family use this route a lot and in winter months when it dark it’s not great taking the long way round

My work colleague lives in West wick and my workshop is loxton. So I drive down wolvers hill road and then over knightcott or down banwell castle hill. I will have to fire him. It's bad enough as it is.

Absolutely ridiculous decision to even be considering this.

I am writing to express my strong objection to the proposal of restricting the M5 bridge to a bus lane. As a resident of Ivy House Farm, I am deeply concerned that this restriction would create significant challenges for those of us who live and work in the area, with limited transportation options available to access nearby towns and amenities. Currently, the M5 bridge provides essential access to Worle and the M5, enabling efficient travel for work, essential services, and daily activities. Restricting this bridge to a bus-only lane would force residents of Ivy House Farm to travel an additional 10+ miles via Banwell and Locking, simply to reach Worle or the M5. This alternative route would not only add substantial time and mileage to our journeys but would also lead to increased fuel costs and vehicle wear, directly impacting local families and businesses. This will also result in additional environmental impact. The additional travel time is also a pressing concern. The proposed detour could extend the trip duration to over an hour due to the already heavy traffic in Weston, especially during peak times. This burden on travel time would further worsen if the bridge restriction were implemented

As a resident of ivy house farm i strongly object to the closure of Wolvershill bridge which would be extremely inconvenient and put 100’s of extra miles onto my commute every year as well as unimaginable extra time or cause me to add to the problems the “rat run” would cause

When Wolvershill Road was closed recently i was left stuck in traffic jams EVERY DAY. Even at off peak times I was stuck in traffic from the Roundabout by Morrisons to the airport Roundabout. If I left home in Wick St Lawrence it would take me between 40 mins to an hour to complete a journey to Hutton that normally takes 15 minutes.
