Closing this bridge to everyday traffic is a ridiculous plan. Weston is already struggling with the amount of traffic on its roads, especially on the dual carriageways. Diverting hundreds more drivers onto already clogged routes makes no sense at all. This will also have an environmental impact with increased fuel usage with a longer route, aswell as fuel used idling in the additional traffic. There's no logical reason to close this road to all but buses.

Closing the bridge is only going to make traffic worse. I've used the route through banwell for 11 years and the amount of times I've been stuck and late is ridiculous.

This road bridge is a vital route to maintain safe connectivity between Worle/ Westacres and Banwell and should not be closed to public traffic. It has been a well used access route to and from the motorway for the residents of Banwell and Sandford and a range of businesses that will be adversely affected. Retain it and continue that critical connectivity and avoid further congestion

Closing this route is the most ludicrous thing I’ve heard in a long time. With the new Meadfields estate having been built (actually classified as Banwell,) anyone living there will have to do a massive loop, adding over 3 extra miles, to get into Banwell itself. Also those travelling that way from North Worle, Mead Fields, West Wick and Locking Castle will also have to travel further putting even more pressure on an extremely busy road that’s already had to have speed limits reduced after in a fatality of a young girl few years back. The extra distance required for those local to the area will put extra duress on the roads as well as causing more traffic pollution. I’d be in agreement with a weight restriction but closing it to ordinary vehicles would be beyond bonkers.

This will cause issues both for my local business as we use this road for travel between jobs and will cause me a lot of extra time and mileage if this is closed off to cars

It's our link to the motorway and worle. The back roads will be hell if this goes ahead.

As a resident who lives on Riverside, near the scrap yard. I am sick of drivers using our road as a rat run and drive down it at ridiculous speeds. I feel for the local horse riders and cyclists who potentially risk injury as these imbeciles drive like buffoons!

Disagree with lower speed limits as more fumes from traffic.

This is a vital transport route. Closing it will only push traffic onto country lanes that are not fit for purpose now let alone with extra traffic

What ridiculous idea. Supposed to be making life easier, with choice, not force traffic all one way and create more problems
