Keep Wolvershill bridge open: A lifeline for our community!

The increased volume of traffic using the riverside route is destroying the narrow road which is totally unsuitable for the volume of traffic. It is also causing inconvenience and upset to residence trying to access their homes and spoiling the ambience I'd what used to be a lovely quite part of the village .

Surely if they leave Wolvershill Road open to the junction at the bypass it will relieve the pressure of traffic from the Morrisons roundabout and the next one towards Weston People in Banwell would then be able to go along the bypass and turn into Wolvershill Road to get to Worle and the M5 junction. Otherwise defeats the object of the bypass we will still be queuing in traffic not in Banwell but at the roads to get into Weston and the M5.

Can't see any sense in this proposal. Do people really think it through.

Whilst the need for a bypass is not at question, the construction of the new element and its support and service road was approved on the understanding that the key features of the village and its inhabitants would remain unchanged. Of course the bypass and its service roads with the future ribbon developments will not only change the landscape in a visual sense and mar the traditional village landscape. The proposed restriction on the use of the road bridge (over M5) has no basis in logic and total disregard for the residents of Banwell and soon to be its surrounding ribbon developments. It should be noted that for many years there was a weight restriction of 7.5 ton on this bridge and it was noted these sign were removed at the same time as the new housing estate at the village end of Wolverhill Rd was started, one must draw one’s own conclusions as to why this came about. The question of the bridge’s fit for purpose is only compounded by the fact thar for the next three years (approx) someone in authority is prepared to authorise the use of this road and bridge by vehicles up to 50 tons as they service the new ribbon developments. The rat runs that will develop in the Riverside, Silvermoor Lane and Summer Lane areas as observed in recent times will be accompanied by unacceptable levels of pollution. In conclusion as Wolvershill Rd is to be widened and resurfaced there is no logical reasons not to continue to use it as before. So I say NO to any restrictions or closures on this road and bridge.

Closing Wolvershill Road to traffic will undermine the effectiveness of the bypass by directing traffic through the village and along Riverside.

Why would you close this road to traffic and create more chaos on other roads for local people

Adding miles onto a car journey for the sake of a bus service that may or not meet the needs of the residents

Don't cut our community in half

This closure would have a massive impact on me and my family. My journey to work will increase by over 10 miles and an hour. I will be unable to access the nearby Worle facilities. It is impactful enough that I will probably move out of the area. And for what? The bridge is hardly a traffic or crime hotspot. It's not overwhelmed and in need of rethinking. Why would you do this to so many people in this community? It's absolutely ridiculous and unnecessary but will long term destroy so much that makes this a worthwhile place to live. I can't quite believe with all the budget problems local authorities face and the endless difficulties your community faces with the costs of living seemingly never ceasing to increase over and above wages, that removing this lifeline bridge for commuters and visitors can possibly be an appropriate and justifiable move for North Somerset to make. Please, please do not wreck this for us. Leave the bridge open for cars. Do not drive us out of Banwell.

What a dumb idea. I thought the bypass was going to reduce congestion. It's alright I'll just sit in more traffic on the dual carriageway. Thanks NSC.

Terrible idea, maybe think about the local impact and pollution that this would actually increase.

I regularly access evening activities in Banwell driving from Hewish. I am nearly 65 years of age and cycling at night particularly in Autumn or Winter at 10pm is not an option for me or many others. This feels more like a ‘woke’ proposal rather than an objectively considered plan

This is ludicrous, who thinks up these idea's without even consulting the users.
