I never had Mrs. Townsend as a teacher, she was relatively new to Parkway West when I attended (2002-2006) but I did have her husband, Mr. Townsend for Math. Mr. Townsend was an awesome math teacher and I only heard good things about Mrs. Townsend. I'm unsure of what happened that would warrant administrative leave for the teacher but in a day and age where good teachers in the public school system are hard to find, I think it would be a tragic decision to let her go. If there's one thing I've learned, it's that teachers are sorely undervalued, held to unrealistically high standards and desperately underpaid. We should give Mrs. Townsend a second chance, we're all human after all.

I'm unsure why she has been put on administrative leave, so part of me feels silly signing this. However, I feel confident that whatever Mrs.T did or said could not outweigh everything she has contributed to the West community. I had her for English my sophomore year. And it would be a loss for other West students to not experience her teaching.

Parkway West suffers from an abundance of marginal teachers, and decides to send an outstanding professional educator like Valerie Townsend packing because of political correctness ? Seriously? What about my freshman daughter who is offended by being cheated out of a quality education ? Or my Junior daughter who was looking forward to having Mrs. Townsend her Senior year? Get some spine and put Valerie Townsend back in the class-room where she can benefit the students of Parkway West.

Valerie Townsend was a positive influence on the West High community in the four years I attended (2010-2014). I recall one time when she realized that I was always losing pencils, and took it upon herself to order some pencils with my name on them for me (I still have them). Having heard the story, it seems she may have gone a bit far, but I sincerely doubt that she intended any malice, and am certain she was only trying to lighten the mood. Bring her back, please!

She was one of my favorite teachers. I am shocked that this is going on. Parkway West students need her back!

Truly the best teacher I have ever had. She has a passion for teaching and is a wonderful and hardworking teacher! She loves her students unconditionally. She also did the best job teaching English and helping students. I hope to see her back in the classroom so I can have her again as a teacher.

Mrs. Townsend is the best teacher out there. She is the true defention of an amazing teacher, for she knows how and what to teach to keep the kids occupied. She never onced wasted time in class and made us all challenge ourselves to become better students. She was honest in a compassionate way, showing the students how to become not only a better student but a better person. She cares about every one of her students and remembers them, even if you never talked once. She takes note of her kids and works with them, she understands when life gets tough or when you're stressed. And not to mention no one ever dreaded going to her class because she made it fun.

Always had words of wisdom and encouragement for the "troublemaker" motivating me to do better and work hard. Parkway Human Resource division please think about it & DO THE RIGHT THING (u saw the movie) if you didn't GET HIP
