Keep Town & Country within the Dry Creek School Boundary

These two proposals (nearly identical) lack sense in numerous ways. There's the obvious impact to those students and families impacted directly, but also one of the objectives was to keep neighborhoods together. Now they are splitting Town & Country off - and it is heavily intertwined with Deauville. Clovis is intentional about providing walking paths and trails - Town & Country has a trail that goes right to Dry Creek without crossing any major roads or traffic signals. Also, in these scenarios, the district would be bussing kids from Bud Rank to Dry Creek, and kids from Dry Creek to Century...that's got to be a financial impact as well. Perhaps the students being bussed from Bud Rank can just be bussed a touch further to Century, avoiding the need to bus Dry Creek kids altogether, and not displacing two sets of students in the proposed "double bump." We understand that MOST who would be forced to change schools would be upset. We get it. Someone has to do it. But the solution just doesn't make sense! Dry Creek is a school that families intentionally seek to attend. They buy homes quite selectively (and pay more money for them) in order to attend Dry Creek. We are a community, not just a school. We are invested in Dry Creek and have spent years intentionally cultivating relationships. Town & Country is DC! There are better solutions. Please take the time to explore them and leave us at DC!

I second my wife's comments (see Lisa Henry's reply) above. We just recently moved our family to Whisper Creek which is within the "Town & Country" neighborhood. One of the reasons we chose to move to Whisper Creek was so that our kids could attend Dry Creek Elementary. It makes little sense from a safety standpoint that the children of the Town & Country neighborhood have to be moved to Century Elementary. Our kids will not be able to walk or ride their bike to school if they are forced to attend Century. There have been several very serious auto accidents along Fowler between Nees and Shepherd in the last few months. Luckily I haven't heard of anyone being seriously injured. Fowler is seeing a lot of traffic in the morning during school hours and without the proper sidewalks/bike lanes along Fowler and parts of Nees there is really no safe way for kids to walk/bike to school from the Town and Country neighborhood. Please reconsider the boundary change.

My family recently moved into the Whisper Creek neighborhood, which will also be affected by the proposed changes. We moved to this neighborhood specifically because of its immediate proximity to the Dry Creek school. We were looking forward to our children walking/biking to and from school. Unfortunately the CUSD bureaucrats did not consider the practical and human consequences of their proposal.

How can you all afford to but kids from a school because you are busing more into that school. just bus them to the other school and leave Dry Creek alone.

Looking at the map makes no sense to have children cross a busy street when they have school on the same side of their neighborhood. And not that far.

Families moved to Town & Country so our children could attend Dry Creek. Never could we have imagined that CUSD would move to displace our children given Town & Country’s close proximity to Dry Creek Elementary.

I think it is important that school districts take keeping families and neighborhoods whole as a factor in their decisions rather than look at them as simply 'territory' to divvy up. Please consider how you would feel if this was your family that was impacted and sign in support of this petition.

did not move the kids which is very true friendships that already settled at the school do not move the kids to another School district.

Please leave Town & Country at Dry Crerk. We rented an apartment for 7 months inbetween buying this home and selling our last so our children would not have to move schools and could stay at Dry Creek. Thank you.

It is not right that children who live in Town and Country will not be able to continue school at Dry Creek Elementary School. My grandchildren live there and it is certainly closer to the school than some of the other areas that will be zoned for Dry Creek. The children in Town and Country should not have their lives disrupted. I spoke with my 8 yr old grandchild tonight and she was very upset over this issue. I'm sure she is not the only one.

Do NOT change the boundary lines. We bought a home for the SOLE purpose of living in the Clovis North district. With the change, we will now be in Buchanan....if I wanted my kids there...I would have bought a home in that area!!
