I cannot imagine who would benefit from such a cruel and capricious ruling. These beautiful Samoyeds are obviously well-cared for and well-trained. And apparently have been registered and permitted as required for move than a decade. If the rules regarding the numbers of dogs permitted in city households are being changed, it would seem only right to allow an exemption in this case until natural attrition reduces the family's dog population to the now-permitted number.

Compassionate care is something we humans, as a race, should take ownership of and hand down by generations. Nature is not to be plundered or squandered, but to be revered and protected.
All creatures deserve to live without their fate decided by the greed, APATHY or ignorance of man.
Enabling or ignoring animal abuse furthers the general lack of empathy we are seeing in our society and is contributing to horrible actions and crimes against all sorts of life forms - including humans. We can't stand back as a society and turn a blind eye to cruelty.
Evolution through civilization moves us together as a global community.

Shame on you Hume Council. Why not concentrate on people who neglect their animals rather than those who love their animals dearly. Issue a special permit , surely you have some compassion.

As Responsible human beings when we take on a pet we commit to that pet for life, not until,it gets old or sick or until we we get a new baby to replace it .. HUME Council you are heartless this is a bonded family both canine and human show shame compassion and let these beautifully cared for and well loved animals remain with their family Please

I think the Hume Council should show some compassion in this instance. Why not allow the two dogs to stay with their family to live out their lives in comfort. People who rescue dogs should commended not condemned.

It is not reasonable to expect something that has worked for ten years, to be disbanded now. Leave the family alone to live quietly. If you want your piece of the cake - increase the Dog Registration rates and get a better quality coffee in the Council Chambers Staff Kitchen. Goodness me guys. Wake up.

The laws are in place for a reason and I believe this would be to prevent irresponsible pet ownership.
These dogs look to be very well looked after and council should allow them to have the 6 dogs and keep them together.

The 4 pet limit exists to prevent mass population adoption of excessive pets, it does not need to enforced in all circumstances. If the pets’ welfare is in question or socially there are issues with the family having the 6 dogs, fair enough. Until such time someone objects to them having the 6 pets, what harm is being done?
