The real matter that needs to be identified is it profitable and if not serious consideration for closure is reasonable since most readers can get information with tech equipment although in very difficult and partial manners. The key question is how can one get copies of desired reports in the future?

What general knowledge is lent out every time someone goes by this spot. Positive, enlightening information is spread by words of projects that made a difference to the world and it's inhabitants. Headlines, book titles, author's visits, book signings, free literature, book clubs about the work in the world that the Bank is spreading go away! The Bookstore serves as an excellent public information and marketing outlet for the Bank, areas where we are notoriously weak. It also shows willingness to be transparent and share information with the general public. The more that is known about what we do, the more likely a Republican congress will agree to support and fund the WBG.

The WB bookstore is an excellent display of what the Bank does and that the Bank is not isolated, that it also carries publications from other organizations and publishers

Many people prefer books to internet and closing of any bookshop is a retrograde step. To close a WBG bookshop seems particularly regrettable even if it is not making a huge profit.

The Bank bookstore has been for decades a one-stop shop for books about WB publications, development, economics, international relations and many related subjects. It would be a tremendous disservice to the development community to close it down. After I left the Bank and relocated in Peru, in every visit to Washington I stopped at the InfoShop to load up with up-to date material on development subjects. KEEP IT OPEN!
