take steps to offer a wide range of books/magazines at the store.

What a sad statement it would be to shut down the one place where one can browse and buy publications so obviously relevant to the Bank's mission. If the holding of book reviews with authors also are to disappear, so much for promoting debate and discussion. All in the name of cost-cutting?

The World Bank Bookstore has been greatly contributing to dissemination of critical knowledge on development by making easily available the Bank publications and other relevant infromation for the Bank staff and their clients as well as general audience. If its operation cost is the issue, there should be many ways to reduce it, without completely closing it. Please do not be shortsighted.

The World Bank bookstore was always a great source of information for not only the staff but also the Bank’s member and their people. The continuously developing technologies are an additional conduit that the Bank through the Book Store could use for making available the knowledge current and historical on economics and all fields of interest for developing countries.

The InfoShop is the only venue accessible to the public at large. It serves a great function. However, it can be down-sized if budget is the concern. As they say, "don't throw the baby out along with the bath water!". DCGuru

This would be a big mistake. The shop was also a window to the outside world. This was so appreciated by external guests and passers by. Why fencing the Bank off? So sad.

The bookstore has been a one-stop shop for development literature. It is popular with also the non-Bank population because most of the books are in English as opposed to Spanish which is the case with IDB, PAHO, etc. bookstores. The bank spends large sums on superflous items/internai projects, The bookstore is not one of them and serves a need.

This appears like a very hasty decision . Prior to closing the Bank might want to familiarize especially old hands how to use the shop bookstore by the web and retain a minimal physical structure with a dedicated phone number.
Second point: by what will it be replaced ?
A 1818 worldwide circulation should be carried out .
