It is the best bookstore in the region and someplace I always visit. Is there no way to keep it open? It is a part of the Bank institution!

The bookstore is more than about selling books; since it isn't possible for the public to just walk into the World Bank, the bookstore is also about giving that opportunity to the public if they want to know more about the World Bank (or buy a book or a souvenir).

If the World Bank is really a Knowledge Bank, it needs a prominent location for people to access that knowledge. If cost is an issue, I could suggest a few people of dubious competence who could be let go with a positive impact on the bottom line.

This is not just a shop, it is where one goes to look for books and material that are so specific to the interest and work of the bank. With its closure finding all of this information would become a more difficult task. Not to mention that it also is where we go to buy bank labeled merchandise and stay connected with our many years of time and pride in having been associated with this organization. Please reconsider this decision.

I would be very disappointed. I would like to know before it is closed, so can pick up something. I am also surprised to note on July 29 that this is the date I first heard of this, when it is highlighted since July 21. Thx.

I think this is not a good idea. A lot of visitors to Washington love to go there and get books related to their business in their countries.

I love visiting the bookstore. The titles are varied and competitively priced. It's a great resource for research. To me, it is the friendly face of the Bank. Please don't close it.

The Infoshop has been the best go-to place for development experts. During the Annual and Spring meetings, I have always seen delegations go to the Infoshop and come out with bags and bags of books that they do not have access to in their own countries. The development impact of the Infoshop is immense in informing key development thinkers and doers about the latest books and reports. It would be truly a pity for the Bank to close such a valuable service to everyone. I would definitely urge the Bank to reconsider this decision.

Very disappointed to hear of this short-sighted decision. I used to be a regular visitor to the bookshop when I was working at the Bank and many of my visitors from client countries used to visit the bookstore. Urge the management not to scuttle this knowledge outlet.

I still get strangers writing to me and one who two months ago committed major philanthropic giving based on a book he bought at the Infoshop. Even as staff I found it the quickest way to find information and books by other authors from inside the Bank and outside. Don't kill this public outreach.

This is the best bookstore in Washington DC. I can't believe that management wants to close it. This looks like a short-sighted financial decision. I can't believe it could be anything else. Let us open our minds and hearts to lafter issues. The management of the bookstore can only be an asterisk in the funds the Bank spends -- and much, certainly, less wisely.
