The Info Shop is a defining characterstic of the Bank. Closing it is not a good idea. Regards Tariq Husain

The World Bank book store bas been and still is a window for the World Bank which is gradually loosing its visibility and consideration for its work... The book store shows what the Bank is doing and what the institution is interested in and concerned with! The place is an entry point for many people around the world visiting the city, going to the White House, I myself bought many books there either related to my work at the Bank, or to my intellectual interests. Already, Washington DC is poor in bookstores and the World Bank' one is not only one of them but the only specialized one. Please review your judgement and change your mind!

WB Bookstore is a testament to WBG's policy of making its information and analyses open and transparent to the general public. Availability and access to the range of material found at the Washington WBG Bookstore needs to continue.

I do not know the details of this decision. If the bookstore will continue but under other management, inclludin commercial, that might work. But it has a great selection of books geared to the truly international staff of the World Bank and their families and is also treasured by visitors to the World Bank, be they students, Board of Governors, consultants, etc. If these good features could be maintained at lower cost through some other management arrangment, OK. (Even online!) But I would hate to see it just not be available anymore-- and part of its appeal IS that it is within walking distance of headquarters.

The store has been for years the best resource for staff and the public in general to obtain World Bank publications that otherwise would have remained unknown.

As a World Bank retiree living in Germany I get to visit the US and Washington, D.C. but seldom. But if I could visit again, the World Bank Bookstore would be a favorite stop.

The infoshop serves an important public relations role for an institution that aspires to be a Knowledge Bank. If all fails, couldn't the bookstore be run as a cooperative and owned by its consumers?

The World Bank book store is a valuable resource to WB employees and visitors who need research materials, project information, special publications, for their work. And it is a "landmark" on Penn Avenue. What a loss indeed.

Presumably it is being shut because it loses money. However, it should be retained as a loss leader to inform the tourists who pass by what the WB is - 99% of Americans have no idea!

What a rotten idea! It is a great source of information not only for staff but for others as well!

The end of civilization as we know it if despite all the other potential savings WBG could make it closed the Infoshop! There is something amazing still about real books and the Infoshop has an unparalleled array of books.

I found the bookstore a great resource in my 13 years as a Bank staff member. As a retiree continuing to do research and writing I continue to find it unique and invaluable. For goodness sake keep it growing and accessible.

This is a major mistake. Our only door to the public at the HQ and an important source of public information.
