Yes to the uniforms! One stress the girls can alleviate during the middle school awkwardness.

I am in favor of a uniform for Middle School, but I would like it to be different than the Lower School uniform to differentiate the divisions. I also think MS students should have the ability to wear some jewelry, wear nail polish, and have more wide ranging shoe choices. This way they can express themselves while maintaining dress code, and they would feel as though they have more privileges as they move through the school.

I am SO excited about the prospect of middle school uniforms. In fact, I think they would be even more valuable in middle school than in lower school. Thanks NCS!

NCS not having a uniform was a big factor against it for my daughter in deciding between schools!

I fully respect the school’s decision to eliminate the uniform for upper school and let NCS girls make their own choices about what to wear (in keeping with the goals of the school to empower young women) but middle school seems like a time to keep the uniforms. There is so much else going on in these young girls lives in grades 7 and 8 - let’s take decisions about what to wear out of it! Class of 1996. Daughter headed to 4 th next year.

I wore a uniform all throughout high school and it was fantastic! No worries about what I wore everyday. No competition and no distractions!

Uniforms create an even playing field and decrease morning drama over clothing choice. School should remain the focus, not fashion. I can’t think of a better time in a young girl’s life than middle school to have a school uniform. There are ways to give the girls more independence than their LS counterparts, for example jeans day (with uniform shirts) once a rotation or once per month; free dress for Cathedral (following a specific dress code); more leeway with footwear and accessories. I think it’s important to give the MS girls some differentiation from the LS but still stay with the structure of the uniform.
Yes please. Can we begin with Fall of 2019?
