Mother of Celia Capito '28. I strongly support this petition and have witnessed firsthand the benefits of a uniform over at St. Albans. The uniform is a great equalizer and allows students to focus on the right things while at school. I see tremendous value in the shared experience of a uniform through middle school and beyond.

Mother of Callie Plishker '28 and someone who wore a uniform all through high school, I think this is a great idea and this has my full support and the full support of my daughter who loves not having to worry about her clothes!

I am strongly in favor of the uniform, and I agree with the commenters who suggest giving the middle-school girls some additional privileges to reflect their status.

We are good with MS uniforms but recommend frequent free dress days such as every Friday.

Thanks to everyone for signing the petition, and for the great comments. We've hit 100 signatures, so I've raised the goal to 150 ... please forward the petition to all NCS lower school families you know, and let's see if we can reach that 150!

Research increasingly shows that confidence in girls drops significantly at ages 12-14. The fewer distractions to take away from how they feel about themselves and their bodies, the more opportunities for focus on personal growth, development, and academics. The school uniform provides an important equalizer that becomes even more critical during these years and those beyond.

I completely agree and can attest to the laser accuracy of the above statement in support of a dress code. If I had only had a dress code in my school days, so much of unnecessary pressure would have been lifted from my shoulders, allowing me to focus on real priorities!

Yes please. Can we begin with Fall of 2019?
