Keep the The Emancipation Memorial/Freedman Statue

When I learned the actual anti-racist history around this statue including Frederick Douglass dedication speech, I was astounded. This is the pro-black position.

Black history is American history.

Save our history!! Protect this family's legacy!!

I saw Cedric Turner speak on this issue and he is a descendent of the man memorialized in the statue. I support him and his point of view.

It needs to be saved for all of our history !

I have learned more about this statue in a few minutes than I ever knew in a lifetime. Thanks to the people who showed up to save it, who are descendants of the slave. I wonder if this was on mainstream news? I wonder if those tearing down everything understand why it was there in the first place. Learning so much in the last three months. Things I never knew.

I am signing this because all this history is to be known. Not worshiped or glorified. But known to show us how our nation has come a free nation. The more educated we are the more we can unite under God to realize we are all equal matter what. God or bad we need to know so we can be good to each other and not do what the bad have done. God Bless our nation and prayers for our future to unite.

Cedric Turner, don't give up. Everybody needs to learn our history. Don't care whether you're Black, White, Pink or Green...we can all benefit. Fight for this & be proud of your family my friend...I stand with you.

I full support the pettion, but if we dont resolve t hgt e issue with Antifa and other hate groups using BLM to placate their agendas, and we also need the young black folks to stand up and protect the statue. The only decent thing Trump has done is sign and the E.O. mostly for political reasons to protect the statues because it is pm Federal Land and for his reelection. All other Confedetates Statues I b ie refrigerator e should he removed by qualified engineers and placed eithet in a mus er I'm or on the historical battle grounds, vice destroying them. BLM got blamed for defacing the tribute to the 54th Massassatus all negro union soldiers which was led by a white officer. I agree they dont know our history.
