The fact that Archer Alexander’s likeness was used and the fact he was born into slavery along with what he did for Union soldiers is an amazing story that should be known by all, but unfortunately it is not. I understand slavery is a horrible part of our history, I think the meaning behind the statue is beautiful and illustrates that emancipation was only the beginning. Things didn’t magically change overnight and if we don’t tell these moments in history, what will our future be?

We should preserve our history not dismiss it. We must learn from it and press forward to new heights building upon that history.

cedric turner i saw you tryimg to tell people about its history . didnt like the way thay were speaking back to you in a terrible manner no respect . please keep the statue it beautiful.. and all other statues need to be saved ..you carnt just erase History

we cinot allow this statue to be taken down. look at it its beautiful. some people.need to learn more in the way of history... read up on this statue. heart breaking what went on in those times but we canot go around destroying its somthing that happened 200 300 years ago. people need to learn from it not destroy it.. please allow this statue to stay

Things have gotten so out of control! Legacy must stay in place for Black history, why would you want to remove this history? This statue? People MUST be educated!
