Strength training is a much more focused and effective form of exercise more relevant to as a supplement to our sports programs

If it is broken don't fix it. Don't penalize our kids for your ridiculous policy.

Keep the program. Much is learned from the challenge of proper training.

As a Coatesville graduate, I can say that these programs really are beneficial. I loved working out in the weight room... it was my way to take away the stress of my other classes. Not only that, but what I have learned in my gym classes and in the weight room are things that I will take with me for the rest of my life. Now that I'm in college, when I don't have to study, I go in the weight room for free since I am a student. The same goes for Coatesville. Even though you can get a gym membership somewhere else, they're usually expensive and it is a lot easier to work out at school. It improves your overall mood, health, and self-esteem. Taking away these programs would mean that kids spend more time sitting at a desk learning material that won't matter years from now. They would also feel more miserable. So it is very important that students learn how to be active while in school.

As an alumnus of Coatesville Area Senior High School, I can attest to the long-term benefits of the strength training programs. I grew as an athlete and as an individual under the guidance of the trainers at CASH. While I was never the strongest person in the room, I was always improving and striving to become stronger mentally and physically. Because the programs are so vigorous, the experience of physical education and the joy I gleaned from it have stayed with me through my first semesters of college. I still train in a manner similar to the way taught to me in high school. Not only do these programs and teachers motivate you, they teach you how to motivate yourself. It might be logical in the minds of some to cut this particular program, but for many students these classes are a sanctuary where they can release stress and pent-up energy. In addition to the physical benefits, the camaraderie that arises due to the shared struggles and challenges the students endure is remarkable. And that, is truly priceless.

The strength training programs at coatesville have physically prevents so many injuries and mentally gives the students self confidence and something to look forward to with long school days filled with challenging classes. If this program gets cut I know that the consequences won't be worth the money saved

I am an alumnus of CASH and I know that physical education is key to a healthy lifestyle. As a a former student of this class I am aware of how well it educates the student on the necessity of resistance training and exercise in general. It goes beyond your routine gym class. The program, I am sure, has only improved in the 15 years since I tool the course. It would be a detriment to the student body and the community itself to not have this educational tool available to the students of Coatesville School District.
