As child born of the Eastern Shoshone Bannock nation and Te-Moak Elko Band, I have the right to defend my ancestors land they fought for. In the Treaty of Ruby Valley, the Western Shoshone of Nevada (later the Te-Moak Elko Band) agreed that if the sacred mountains are left alone, they will move to the colonies in the county. It is a federal law and order that the government has to uphold or they will be sued. I live near the Ruby Valley in Spring Creek, I lived there my whole life. I have loved the Canyon and Ruby Valley, it’s my second home next to Warm Valley on the Wind River Reservation in Wyoming. Hear me and allow me to speak on this as I have studied heard to be a Indigenous leader and activist, Ruby Valley is a sacred land that deserves to be protected and defended from land developers and big mining companies and etc.

There are very beautiful places left in Nevada that are not being ruined by development and human encroachment. The Rubies are special, largely in part from being wild and unmolested. Developing a portion opens the door for future developers to chip away at one of the few great landscapes at have left, and once it’s gone, We the People will never get it back. To someone who doesn’t know what this place means it may seem like a mother lode, but the rest of us call it home.

Don’t ruin the Rubies. We hunt & fish there. Say no to the skiing scam from California. DRP & family, Boulder City NV, USDoI-BLM, ret.

As a long time and frequent visitor of the Ruby Mountains, the idea of this rare example of a near pristine wilderness being torn up for a ski resort that everyone I’ve spoken to, to a one, despises the very idea of is horrible. I will genuinely grieve if this project moves any further forward than it has, and hope that the local governance regains its spine and willingness to listen to more than outsiders’ dollars and places an immediate halt to this project.

What a tragedy that anyone is even considering allowing any sort of development in the Ruby Mountains. Developing our wild and open spaces is not progress, it’s a detriment to everyone who calls this state home. Please stop trying to develop everything.

Greedy self serving developers and gvt. officials/ politicians need to keep their grubby hands off our spectacular wild American mountains—-including our Ruby Mountains.

Do not develop the Ruby Mountains. The Ruby Mountains in Elko County, Nevada, are the ancestral homelands of the Te-Moak Tribe of the Western Shoshone Indians They provide a plethora of natural recreational opportunities, and include a wetland oasis for migratory birds and fish, not to mention the abundance of wildlife that thrive in these areas. Developing it for the sake of a ski resort or any profitable, structure or purpose would be devastating to the area, the wildlife and the ecosystem.

It would be a shame and a travesty to do any development in this mountain range
