Keep the Ruby Mountains as undeveloped as possible!

Hello, I grew up in the community, all through middle school and high school there was passion found in being able to freely travel the land that was not owned by ranchers or reservation land. There were many valuable lessons learned in being prepared for the weather and struggles life can often throw at us. I now live in Idaho but often have to work in Jackson, WY and Teton Village, WY. I can assure you, the people of the community I grew up in, do not want to become a community as such. Most of the people living in the town are working in mines and ranching where there is so much beauty in the land around but due to it being privately owned by the companies they are restricted from hiking, backpacking, camping, hunting, and fishing in those areas. The economic changes that could happen are not worth changing the passion in the small community. In Jackson and Teton it costs over $20 for a burger, is this really what you want for this community? The mountains the companies and private land has taken for the ski slopes in Jackson Hole area would cover over half of the range of the Ruby Mountains. That would ruin a large amount of the already existing opportunities the Ruby Mountains have to offer, and it would make it so the people of the community are charged an admission fee to do what they already can do for just the cost of the gear. I urge you to think about the people of the community and the values the nature in the community wants to encourage rather than the values a dollar bill can encourage. Thank you

I don’t believe Lamoille is a great place for a resort. Some things are meant to be untouched.

My concern is that this costly endeavor will not be successful nor capable of sustaining itself due to lack of adequate and consistent snow pack and/or sustained low temperatures to prevent melting of snow. I fear that this will not be realized before permanently scaring the mountains with roads, foundations and other such construction activities. In mining we have to put up large bonds and submit reclamation plans should the operation close suddenly. What’s the plan should that happen in this case?

The damage to the fragile ecology and physical beauty of the mountains would be irrevocably damaged by the proposed resort and ski runs.

Keep our mountains free from resorts and construction. Keep outside people that will destroy our mountain. Everyone in spring creek and elko goes up there for hiking, fishing camping etc. Let it be for our community.So it stays beautiful and clean.

Do not develop one of the last good things that this state has

This project is such a selfish move in this community! We specifically moved here because of the beauty of these mountains. Not everything needs to be developed! We definitely don't want to be looking at more people, more cars/traffic, more homes, machines and such. Leave the Canyon and Mountains to nature. There is so much natural beauty to enjoy for many outdoor enthusiasts. Such a plan will disrupt the animals, the environment and ultimately deplete our valuable resources that are already endangered to drought and fire to name a few. Not to mention the water consumption and detrimental environmental impact not only on creeks and rivers as well as the animals and this community.

Commisioners, Please be socially responsible by preserving the few remaing open spaces and mountain ranges in the West. "The urge to beauty, and the need for gracious and lovely things in life, is as vital a need as the urge for bread" (Luther Burbank)
