I live in the county and the sheriff's deputies are our mail line of defense against criminals. They need a facility to detain apprehended individuals.

Please do not close the jail. We need our deputies on patrol instead of spending time driving criminals to other jails.

This action will take this town down with the lessening of our police force on the streets to protect and serve this community. We need our jail and our officers.

To close our jail will be a huge mistake. It will not save money, it wil cost more to transport.
There is already to much crime here, to take our officers away by having them play taxi to the next booking area will only open the door for more criminal activities. People always dog our PD but in reality we have damn good officers and with out them being available this town will turn into criminal central.
Its like open season on Ridgecrest and its surrounding areas if we have little to no protection.

I believe it will cost our community and the county greatly if the jail is closed. The cost of transporting prisoners from Ridgecrest to Bakersfield by both city PD and Deputies mean fuel costs, time away from serving the area by law enforcement personnel plus their wages and possible overtime, and jail availability at Central Receiving. A true waste of tax payer money plus an ever rising court docket from new case "cite and release" as the option to a closed jail.

East Kern Sheriffs are essential for the area... Who was 1st on seen for the killer of Dr. Markiewitz??? East Kern!
I also agree, it will cost more in the long run to transport prisoners to Mojave or Bakersfield due to taking the deputies away from the area for long periods of time..

Closing the Ridgecrest Jail week not cause those employees to lose their jobs but cost the City more money to transport arrestees back and forth to Bakersfield on a daily basis. This would be more gas, personnel potentially working more hours, and less officers protecting citizens. Ridgecrest is already isolated enough don't take more from us.

Mr. Youngblood, Sir, PLEASE reconsider. It may be an expense but some expenses (and I believe this to be one) are worth it...
PLEASE, DO NOT let this be another step in the direction of Ridgecrest being the illegitimate step-child of Bakersfield.
