Budget issues will be increased over time with the added crime in our town of the jail closes. Officers will let criminals go who they otherwise would arrest because they don't have the man power or resources to transport to Bakersfield. Closing the jail is not a reasonable solution to the budget issues. From a Ridgecrest resident

Our local tax dollars are suppose to help pay for infrastructure such as sheriffs, courts, jails and fire stations.
Is this yet another case of money not used correctly?
I have my suspicions here....
Its time to fire all the fiscally irresponsible elected officials in this county and the state.
We should all be tired of this by now.

The risk is greater to close the jail and v transporting detainees to other facilities, then to keep the facility open. Also, this keeps jobs in town

The time & resources of our law enforcement are better spent putting locally arrested citizens in our own jail rather than making a 2 hr round trip to Mojave.

This would not only be one of the worst things to happen for the communities safety, but also the surrounding areas. The safety of our communities are at stake here.

Just don't feel this is the right move for our city. I moved here 2 yrs ago and actually feel safe here and having less policeman here cuz they're transporting people to other cities isn't a way to save money. Really hope they change they're mind about this.

Keep our jail open! Our police officers have more important things to do than to drive idiots 2 to 3 hours away. That is just stupid & bad business!

Please do not close the jail in Ridgecrest. As a county residence and one that lives out in the country area, I am very concerned how fast I could get help if needed. The county sheriff here does a very good job for us. I know as I have had to call on them. They are a life line for us.

There are so many ways to eliminate waste and save money. I don't feel that Sheriff as looked very hard. Closing the Jail in a city 120 miles from the big jail is ridiculous! This will take the Deputy's off the street and put them in a car for 6 hours. Currently the county pays $12,000,000 to pay for over time in the jails in Bakersfield. Who is paying that?

Crime rate rises in Ridgecrest and the Country want to close the jail. Hmmm. What is that logic? The good people of Ridgecrest and the surrounding area are going to pay the price. Longer response times. Less man power to respond. I belive the county will see more vigilanty justice!!!!!

It makes no reason at all to close the jail in Ridgecrest. If they close the jail this means that one or up to two Officers will have to leave the town bring are Officers will be short one Officer an if they asked for a back up for any reason they won't have it and there for if I was an Police Officer I would for my safety just back off on the call until arrival of a Police Officer . Please don't put are Officers in danger.

Are town is growing very fast and not to have a jail could be a bad thing. We have a lot of X cons that get dropped off in our town.
Keep the jail open
Stay open
