Let's keep it open, nothing but bad can come from its closure

Being the second largest city in Kern county, we should not be losing either our jail nor any other law enforcement services. Our City helps fund this jail, which makes it closing ridiculous if you are trying to save funding - close a jail that is not being funded at least partially by another entity other than the county.

This will add hundreds of hours and thousands of dollars in cost to the Ridgecrest Police Department in transporting detainees more than two hours in each direction to a detainment facility. Our staffing will suffer in the long run when budget cuts are needed to accommodate this decision. We don't want our $$$ used this way.

We need a place to jail to house the criminals and those who have simply made wrong decisions locally. This will save thousands of dollars, so it "simply makes common sense!

It's simply more practical and sensible to keep the local jail open than to close it, both from financial and safety standpoints.

I feel we need to keep it open, because the sheriff department are a big part of the help process. Without them then more crime, and it gives time for law brokers to do more damage when the local police are way to busy.

The citizens of eastern Kern County deserve the same level of services that Bakersfield residents receive. This penny-wise but pound-foolish "solution" comes at the cost of public safety ... that is NOT an option. Find another way.

This threatens our safe way of life in the valley. Police, fire and roads are the BASIC requirements to be provided by any government entity to ALL citizens not just Bakersfield. Find the bucks!!!

Can't believe it is even being considered. Why close a jail that is needed? Crime has gone up in this and the surrounding areas.
