It won't really make a different. I had grew up in this corrupted town and I can tell you for sure that a lot of criminals get away with crime since they got money to pay bail, or pay authorities under the table.
Solution: Let the people practice the 2nd amendment so that the danger in this town won't be so high.

Saving money by leaving our city without officers, just to transport ALL THE WAY to Bakersfield to be booked. Instead of doing it at the local facilities and saving jobs..

This community cannot continue to take a backseat to other populations in the county. Bakersfield may be large, but it does not deserve the resources that belong to smaller towns.

Closing the local jail makes no sense to me. If we were closer to an available, open jail maybe this action would be feasible. This closure wold be leaving the community at risk so I strongly petition that the jail remain open.

1. I have learned that the Kern County budget is going through a very difficult time of cuts due to loss of revenues. The near term budget projections look grim.
2. Is there any way to extend the closing date of our jail for several months allowing us time to find an alternative solution to closing our jail?
3. If our jail is closed, may volunteers be used to transport prisoners? If volunteers are not allowed can transporting of prisoners be done by contracting that service out.
4. Our Ridgecrest jail is also used by federal and state authorities. Are there federal or state funds that may be used to help our budget so that we can keep our jail open? Have our federal and state representatives been informed of our jail closure and have they been informed of the impacts to our community and asked to help us?
5. What is the cost savings to closing our jail. Is there a cost savings when you factor in the costs of transporting prisoners?
6. Will the risk to the safety of our community go up by closing our jail? Will the risk of safety to our law enforcement personnel be increased by closing our jail?
7. Are there any federal, state or county, laws, rules or regulations that we may be violating by closing our jail? Do we open our self's to civil lawsuits by closing our jail?
8. Have we considered closing the Mojave jail? What are the pros and cons to that idea.
9. We are told that the drop in oil prices are the reason the we have a budget deficit. We have all enjoyed the low gas prices but not at the cost of our security and safety. Is it possible to add an additional tax to our fuel prices to help offset the deficit and keep our jail open? Thank you.

The building and facility is already there. It would be logical to keep it up and running. The added stress and manpower on the RCPD would be unnecessary and would effect their ability to be proactive rather than reactive in their duties as Peace Officers.

One of the reasons I wanted to move here is because it felt like a safe and friendly town. The prospect of the only jail closing is definitely scary and disconcerting.

I believe that the jail should stay open its a bad idea to close it. The stress the officers will be feeling when transporting to and from (driving distance) will be to much for them, plus protecting the citizens and community will be to much. I understand its there job but they are human being too they can only do so much. Not only that but less officers will be on patrol to help the community when needed and that will affect the citizens greatly thats my opinion at least.

Don't be like San Bernardino county, started small rhen it explored, crime rate as multiple and residents don't feel safe anymore.. save the jail. Locked up the bad. Protect and serve the community. . Cut budget elsewhere.. be smart

I feel like this would jeopardize our town, crime rate would go up, and in the long run it wouldn't save one red cent in the gas we'd use driving and the officers we'd loose transporting criminals from here to Mojave/bakersfield, I feel this is NOT o.k. and is pointless. Putting people out of jobs, and hurting families in the process.
