It would be a huge mistake to close the Ridgecrest jail. Not only will our citizens' safety be at much higher risk but the police's safety too as they will be spread thinner than ever. You need to find budget cuts elsewhere. Closing the jail is not the answer.

Please reconsider. This leaves our wonderful community vulnerable and as always feeling like we are on the fringe wothout a voice over on the eastern edge of Kern. We are county taxpayers and this decision is plain and simply wrong. Thank you

It would be a huge mistake to close this jail. How many officers would be out of there are to transport prisoners to Mojave?

Please keep our jail open! It is deeply needed in our community. The closest jail is over 45 minutes always and take up officers we need in town while commuting !

Not only will this cost money, it will leave less time for real police work. It will also adversely affect our Ridgecrest sub-station deputies. There are times where only one to two deputies are on duty to cover huge geographic areas. If they have to transport an inmate, it leaves this area woefully underserved.

Closing the Ridgecrest Jail will have insurmountable consequences that have yet to be considered in the long scheme of things. Finding cuts elsewhere would be the wise choice.

This move shall cost the City of Ridgecrest police resources and it will increase overtime as well. The City should sue for repayment of all additional costs born by the City by this political move. Shame on Sheriff Youngblood and County Supervisor Gleason!!!

It makes no sense to close our jail, it will certainly not save the money you think it will and it will create serious safety risks for the citizens of this community. Please reconsider.

Closing the Ridgecrest Jail would severly impact local, county and state law enforcement efforts to reduce crime and maintain a visable patrol presence in the Indian Wells Valley!

Ridgecrest is the third largest city in Kern County, and we absolutely need to keep the jail open. Our police department works very hard to help keep our city clean and safe, we can't afford to lose officers time for transporting offenders outside our city, since we are so isolated.

We already have a ton of problems. Frankly I know some of these criminals through my old job and I can tell you they are excited the jail is closing. That should be an eye opener.
