In the interest of public safety and cost efficiency it's NOT a real good idea to close the only facility in the valley. We need to move forward on crime not backwards.

Having a remote detention facility is important especially now that the state has released so many additional criminals. Law enforcement is not a nice to have but a must have. How does the new "green energy" fall into the revenue stream, was it negotiated like oil and is helping the county services?

we are a remotely located city and asking out police and sherries officer to drive an unnecessary distance only puts them at risk and will ultimately end up in a unneeded amount of extra hours for them. This jail needs to stay open for our community to remain safe.

I believe having a jail here is a psychological help to keep people out of trouble. By closing this facility what will you be telling those who might be on the fence. Yes, we are telling them that they can do wrong and no jail means I don't get into trouble as easy. Keep the jail open.

I've lived in this valley since 1952 except for going to college and a few other short breaks away. I've seen lots of changes but just the last couple of years I've seen drastic changes in the level of crime. We pay our taxes and it looks like now the taxes are going to the bigger cities because their crimes are going crazy. I want my money to stay here and keep our crime rate manageable. It's not a good thing even here but it will get even worse if the jail is closed. PLEASE don't close it. A lot of our crime is coming from the Bakersfield area. We had our truck stolen by 2 juveniles from there. Please reconsider. Don't just take our money to put into a problem that doesn't seem even able to be solved. Don't let the same thing happen to us. Thanks for considering this plea. Gayle Tomlinson

Keeping my fingers crossed that the Ridge crest facility be left open. With this petition and it's signatures, how many of them (signatures) are needed so that Mr Youngblood will reconsider his decision?

I moved to Inyokern from Fresno 14 years ago, and the absence of major crime in this area is astonishing. Please don't mess with success. Leave the jail open.

There is no excuse for closing the only jail our people can go to. It puts a strain on people to get home after being arrested.
