This is just my mindset but who really goes back in history and thinks about what the meaning is of what a mascot, picture, statue etc and then reflect what happened years ago into our lives today? Get over it.

I don't see a problem with it this has been the mascot for years if not why not redesign him if it's such a big issue.

There is no reason to change what has been the South Spencer mascot for so many years! It is not, nor has it ever been a racial symbol.

I personally see no issues with having the rebel man as a school mascot but if for some reason they do decide to change it South Spencer Sentinels has a nice alliterational ring to it!!!!!!

I am a Heritag Hills alumni. I grew up seeing this fella and never once thought it was racist. Just knew when I saw this our school rival was in town. Don't take away part of Spencer Counties or SSHS history. Leave him alone.

South Spencer's mascot is just that, a mascot. Nothing racist about it in my opinion. It is what you think and believe. Keep him, please.

I actually live in the Heritage Hills district. But there is no reason to remove the Rebel as the South Spencer mascot. He is part of their history not a representation of racism or hate.

Don’t let the voices of a few drown the voices of many. This is a symbol of History and Heritage, but not hate.
