Education has always been a top priority in Mo. Co. Why is it not anymore????Please help by keeping density down in the Westward Sector .
We don't have enough room for the

The schools are severely overcrowded and it's reprehensible to continue adding new homes to our community without increasing the structure of our schools to accommodate the amount of children there.

Schools need to be a priority in this county. If there is going to be continued over - development within the Bethesda area the schools need to keep up with the projected numbers rather than play catch up. There is no excuse why Whitman and Pyle are not given the funds other area schools are given and why our facilities are substandard and not adequate as compared to the rest of the county. Our council members need to visit Whitman and then visit schools like Blair HS and Paint Branch HS and get an idea of what I am referring to.

I moved from another country and we chose to live in this area because of Whitman. Please, don't overcrowd it, this will only result in deteriorating the wonderful academics the school is well known for! Thank you.

How will you handle new student population anticipated by the Westbard Plan when you can't handle the present overcrowding?

I have a 6th grader at Pyle. She gets excellent grades and loves her teachers. Her biggest complaints relate to the size of her classes and overcrowding of the building. This week she was so grateful that she got a pass to have lunch in the library because the lunch room is so crowded. Let's acknowledge reality and safeguard our most important success: our children and schools.

$205 million being spent on the Purple Line instead of schools.

Even if the "modified" Westbard plan goes through, with "only" 580 new residences at Westbard, it will only add to overcrowding at these schools. The additions need to be approved "now" so the schools can handle their current overflow, and so they will be ready for the additional students as they arrive. Remember. all those graduating seniors who have been sitting in overcrowded schools for 6 or 12 years are now voters!!

If the council is going to force down county to expand then it has to fund construction in the area schools to deal with the overcrowding. Its that simple.

Ironic to say the least that these school projects may be delayed even while the Council considers the ill-conceived Westbard sector plan. I have a child who is directly affected by this. Please keep the Wilson cluster on track!!

At Pyle last year there was serious talk of eliminating most of the books in the library so that they could make space for another classroom. A school needs a library and adequate space for teachers to teach. These are necessities not nice to haves!
As for Whitman, eating in the halls because the cafeteria is over capacity and shutting down the media center during the school day so that it can be used for testing and other needs is the current reality. Once again, cutting kids off from the library, which is the soul of educational pursuits is simply wrong. Please reconsider delaying additions at these two schools. You are affecting the quality of education for some 3,500 students.
