Keep the Old Canal Way Traffic Light - Weatogue, CT

I feel that the signal is required at this junction, since the road is curvy and hidden.

132 Old Canal Way, Weatogue Coming out of Old Canal Way there are blind curves in either direction, making it impossible to safely turn onto Hopmeadow Street without a light. In addition, cars often speed on this section of road, where the speed limit is already 45 mph. Removing this light would create an incredibly dangerous intersection for all traffic passing Old Canal Way on Hopmeadow, and especially for the residents of Old Canal Way attempting to turn North or South onto Hopmeadow, the only exit and entrance to our street.

This is an extremely hazardous intersection with speeding vehicles. If this Traffic light is removed it is a disaster waiting to occur. Weatogue CT

36 Alan Drive Traffic travels way to fast on Hopmeadow, if you are turning left from the light you cannot see the cars coming with the turn in the road there! Even from the right you would have to inch way into traffic..that is so dangerous and school buses come through this way daily. This is a huge safety issue, there are a lot of people living back there!!!

There are a lot of people who live back here, not just the townhouses but then a lot of single family homes behind the town houses. Cars travel very fast on Hopmeadow in this area, and a left turn is very difficult out of Old Canal Way and dangerous. We need this traffic light even if for safety first and foremost.

I live at 112 Old Canal Way and believe removing this traffic light will result in multiple accidents. It's too dangerous to remove this light!

This light is absolutely necessary for the safety of local residents. It is impossible to see oncoming traffic from the North in time to make a safe left turn. KEEP THE LIGHT!!!!!

If the Office of State Traffic Commission had done proper research they would see how dangerous it will be to take a left turn onto Route 10 without a traffic light. Even in good weather it would be extremely difficult to gauge the flow of traffic coming from the left and also focusing on the traffic coming from the right on a very busy road. Imagine what it will be like after a foot of snow has fallen and plowed piles are obscuring the view of Route 10 to the left and right! If the Commission is intent on moving the traffic light then straighten out the curve before Old Canal Way and lower the speed limit to 35 mph (although I doubt it would deter the many vehicles exceeding the limit). Do what's right for the safety of Simsbury residents and all those travelling through our community -- keep the traffic light!

It is imperative for the safety of the residents at Old Canal Way and the general driving population that the traffic light remain in place.
