DO NOT remove the words of Stonewall Jackson from the school's name. The Civil War was very much a part of West Virginia history and Stonewall Jackson was a resident of Clarksburg VA in 1824 ( now WV) & was a graduate of West Point.

There is no reason to change the name unless this crazy woman is going to read every history book and pick every name in them all to pieces. It is JUST A NAME and all she is doing is trying to make a name for Herself. Go petition something that really matters. .something you can make a real difference with and leabe our school alone.

I didn't go to school here but I sang here every year with all county choir and made a lot of friends here. I truly believe this situation has gotten blown out of control. History is history you can not erase it.

Do not change the name of stonewall jackson middle school. I am a 1968 graduate of stonewall jackson high school and am proud to have graduated from there. Changing it's name will never change history .. Does this also mean that people that were named after our generals or passed down from the original lineage have to change their names...enough of this stupid stuff..get a grip people..you can try to erase every ounce of southern heritage and act like their was never a civil war but it happened. This is 2015, I have never owned a slave nor would I...I am not guilty becuase of what my ancestors did. but quit trying to earase the fact they were here and served in an army that was defeated. We have had hundereds of wars and many lost their lives..it's time to buck up and get over the past. The only ones who can't get over it are those who want to perpetulate hostility

I have always known that school as STONEWALL JACKSON, My sister and I both graduated from there when it was a high school, I have several neices and nephews that have attended SJ as a middle school. It just simply would not be right to change the name after all these years !
