IN MY OPINION IT IS RIGHT FOR THE SCHOOL TO KEEP ITS NAME. STONEWALL JACKSON WAS A GOOD MAN FROM ALL I HAVE READ. IT WAS A TIME OF CIVIL WAR IN OUR COUNTRY AND THERE IS NO WAY TO CHANGE THAT. PEOPLE ARE REACTING TO PRESSURE AND BEING UNWISE. I AM FROM WEBSTER COUNTY. A GRADUATE OF GLENVILLE STATE COLLEGE(YEARS AGO). HOPE THE SCHOOL KEEPS ITS NAME. GOD BLESS THIS EFFORT.

i use to go here and we learned about SJ there were no hatred for the school name then and now. This lady is just wanting to spend wasted time and money on something that the majority of charleston isn't offended by.

The school was named after a man for all he had done so now what are we supposed to do change anything that someone might decide it may offend someone. Im tired of worryring about what does or doesn't offend a few. No one asks what offends me, Im proud to say I graduated from Stonewall Jackson high.LEAVE IT ALONE.

My father attended Stonewall Jackson the first year it opened. My Aunt, several Uncles, and Cousins are Alumni. This proposal is riduculous, and as I mentioned to my father today, this PC attitude is only causing more hatred, prejudice, and division between the black and white community. Do you really think changing the names of schools, and removing Confederate Jasmine from campuses makes a statement against racism? Try going to church or dinner with your black neighbors. That makes a statement. One on one relationships change people. Oh, and BTW, IF you do decide to change the name of the school, then be consistant and change the name of everything that bears Robert C. Byrd's name.
