Keep the METRO & say "NO" to Food Basics

I just moved from an in Missisaauga that had a food basics close by. Although great for the milk, eggs and juice runs, it just lacks choice. They also have a tendency of removing products of the shelf that you've come to enjoy. No fresh bakery or prepared meals is also a big downer, when it comes to food basics. It's not about wanting to pay more - as yes, metro can be overpriced - but it's the chance to have choice, some quality prepared foods and a better laid out shopping experience. I am disappointed, I guess it's grocery gateway for me. :(

Just reading these comments worries me on how humanity has become. it's sad when people make one of the most important decisions in life (like buying a condo) revolve around a Metro grocery store. This isn't Liberty Village! This is Lansdowne and Dupont. So you better get used to the crackheads, hookers and police cruisers parked up and down Lansdowne ave. Your stupid little petition isn't going to get you anywhere! So start looking out for Food Basics flyers in your mailbox.

We have a Fresh co at Galleria and an other discount grocery at Bloor and Dundas. For me this is about choice - I would like an other option.

If Food Basic$ is so cheap, why do they have a dollar sign in their name?

I really hate poor people. Let's starve them out so they leave. Then we can build more condos downtown and kick all the poor people out and get a Whole Foods instead.

When I bought my new townhouse on Foundry Ave my real estate agent and the billboard signs promised a Metro opening soon. We've waited 6 years. A Metro is what's needed to elevate this neighborhood and particularly this troubled intersection.

This is a devastating blow to my upper-middle class white privilege and my strong sense of entitlement. Is there a cream available to soothe the rash I'm going to get from shopping below my income bracket?

I recently purchased a condo here and am afraid that driving my Porsche Cayenne ten minutes to loblaws to buy gluten free foods for my children Cohner and Rhubarb will make me late for my holistic yoga classes.

Metro is more aligned with the potential of this neighbourhood.

This is horrible news... just when you think this neighbourhood is bettering itself and bringing in a different demographic... nope :( Food Basics is horrible anyways.

I'm not necessarily FOR a Metro, but I'm definitely not for a Food Basics. I thought we were trying to make this neighbourhood better.

Based on Principle there should be a metro there as it was what was originally promised. I also think there is a massive oversight as to the new cash flow that will be dispersed throughout the neighbourhood. A metro on the corner just seems a better fit for the demographic that has moved into the Area.

The decision is short sighted. The neighbourhood is changing and a Metro is much more in keeping with the future.

If something was promised prior to purchase it seems a little shady to take it back.
