The crime has already spiked in this area due to poor policing this is just gunna make it worse. These governments have to give their heads a shake cut this cut that. Any excuse for this is a poor excuse. Need to be hiring oh wait you can't get members because the pay is cap for a high risk job. This country needs to get their cap together.

Living close to the US border, I strongly recommend keeping the RCMP in Melita! That's still too far away from getting down here in case of someone crossing into Canada illegally! Moving them to Virden would be HORRIBLE!

Why is this even a rational consideration? The community of Melita needs these services for their protection and safety all the time. Relying on other communities to cover only decreases this very same thing!

Is there a grand plan to make small towns obsolete? I have often thought it would be great to have a retirement home in Melita. However, with the decrease in services that won't be a sound move. Whomever is running the show - best be taking a good look at the big picture and ramifications. I have family and friends in Melita and want them to be safe.

I think that they should keep the rcmp in melita crime rates will go up because people will know that it's a wait up 2 hours so gives people lots time to do things. KEEP THE RCMP in melita so everyone will be safe

The good citizens of Melita and area deserve to have a quick RCMP response in the event of accidents, robberies, or border problems. Is this just an effort to save some money by not using the Melita detachment office? A very unwise decision for the hard-working, tax-paying citizens of Southwest Manitoba!

Taking away an RCMP detachment in Melita could very well have terrible repercussions in the future for years to come. At a time when there is more crime in the area, we need an RCMP detachment more than ever!
