I think it's an absolute disgrace that the loan parent allowance it being hit in such a drastic manner. The low earners are constantly being hit with cut after cut and it's pushing people to poverty. It is the children who are the most vulnerable of people that will suffer from this.

God forbid that lone parents would be afforded a proper opportunity to better themselves or provide a better quality of living for their children..... What planet do the current Government live on introducing a scheme like this......its beyond comprehension...logic...and common sense...!!!!

As a new lone parent, I feel disgusted and let down (again) by this govt. By removal of the lone parents benefit you are condemning our children to poverty. It will be impossible to work. Last summer I graduated from a 2 year course. I was part of a two parent household then, getting a job in my qualified area at entry level is barely minimum wage, it would maybe cover childcare, but not rent, food, heating, clothing. Trying to be two parents to my kids is exhausting, they have no access to their father for legal reasons. I am not alone. Am I to leave a 7 and 9 year old at home on their own, I think that's actually illegal. Leave them with a family member? unfortunately I have none close by that would be fit for it. Again, I'm sure I'm not alone. A friend of mine recently posted how it was going to cost her €325 for her daughters 1st year school books alone. I dread my kids getting to secondary school. I am chasing my husband through the courts to try and get a measly sum of €30 per week from him, he says he can't afford any more. He is doing everything to avoid having to contribute. The stress and heartache I am going through at the moment is bad enough, to know there is no support for my kids just adds to it.

Stop forcing families into deeper poverty. Try walk in their shoes before such cruel cuts are imposed! Disgusting lunatics running the asylum.
