This is a vital program for the individuals directly involved in it as well as the broader community. Programs like Linc are needed now more than ever. Don’t do the Conservative Party of Canada’s job for them.

I studied LINK program. it was very helpful learning Canadian cultures and English. I also made many friends in the class.

Please retain this invaluable program.

LINC is essential for the integration of new comers into our Canadian society.

These cuts do not make economic sense. The impacted students will end up on long wait lists for basic language skills and will be less able to participate in the economy. It is impossible to pivot without a transition plan. These new Canadians deserve better!

Please, save our jobs

To belong, we need to be understood with respect. Language is seminal to that. This is such a core element in welcoming the stranger into a better life. It should be a core element in a compassionate community.

Newcomers to Canada rely on programs like those offered at Vancouver Community College to develop essential language skills and cultural knowledge that enable them to find meaningful employment and integrate successfully into Canadian society. VCC’s program goes beyond basic language instruction by offering additional support services, including counseling, library resources, tutoring, and specialized accommodations for students with disabilities. These services ensure that all students, regardless of their challenges, have the resources they need to succeed. Many students transition from the LINC program directly into vocational training at VCC, ensuring that they are not only equipped with language proficiency but also with the specialized skills needed for the workforce. In fact, over 92% of VCC graduates successfully find employment, demonstrating the real-world value of these programs. Why is this crucial program being targeted for defunding at a time when it plays such a vital role in helping newcomers, including those with disabilities, achieve success in Canada?

Vancouver Community College (VCC) is the best professional resource, flexible in terms of schedule especially in the evening hours and does not have huge queues (from 3 months to 1.5 years like in other LINC courses) which allows working people to continue to develop their English language skills and integration into Canadian society in general.

This is a very shortsighted decision. Language services not o only offer the proficiency needed for newcomers to obtain jobs nearer equivalence to their education level, the programs help integrate newcomers into Canadian society and understand Canadian values.

Hopefully nothing comes of this layoff.
