Keep the LINC Program at Vancouver Community College

I really agree

Learning English is vital for new immigrants to become more able to communicate well and contribute to Canadian society. VCC has always had a well respected LINC program and practical training for TESOL and the King Edward Campus is well situated on transit lines, has a good library, learning centre and bookstore for ESOL learners. Please let the LINC program continue.

This country was built on immigration. English language skills are the foundation to being successful. Don’t put another barrier up by removing this program.

We need this program for those who are already marginalized in our community!

Important program for newcomers!

Please keep this program open to provide access for the Deaf & Hard of Hearing immigrants!! It is vital for their assimilation to the Canadian way of life!

"The limits of my language are the limits of my life." Specialized and skilled access to ASL instruction is essential.

This and some other offerings are a very important part of being a true community college. For learning to happen and to integrate it with the wider community of students from all over the world we need programs like LINC to be sustainable and accessible. The quality of education and the experience to newcomers is so important to building understanding and connection.

Actually, I fully support the defund the LINC program! All staff are lazy!

Deaf coming in from various countries around the world deserve a chance to learn ASL and English at one of the ONLY programs available in the province of BC for learning ASL and English.

As a retired instructor in the DHH program for 25 years, I was thrilled that finally Deaf, DeafBlind, and he’d of hearing Newcomers to Canada could get the same access to language instruction the same way hearing newcomers got for decades. Cutting LINC removes a pathway to full knowledge and ability to succeed in our country.

Losing LINC, the heart of VCC, is a tragedy! Restore the funding!

Please understand the niche nature of such a program. For newcomers who use sign language it is imperative they learn from other sign language users and teachers.

This is an Essential program. Programs like create opportunities for people.

Language classes help newcomers integrate, find jobs, support their children's education, build social networks, and access services. This is important because newcomers contribute to economic stability, population growth, and community development, addressing labor shortages and enriching Canada's multicultural society. Re-instate the LINC program and transitional English Language programming for Newcomers to Canada.

The LINK is a great support for immigrants. I support the petition to keep the LINK in VCC. Save LINK!!!
