We have the right to have it stay. Why aren't we voting on this instead of bowing to the grumblings of the few? What next?

It is wrong to sanitize our history. Learn from it even if it makes some uncomfortable. What's next if we give into this destruction.

Lincoln thought enough of Lee to ask him first to lead the Army of the Potomac! Lee went with his state though he thought the war foolish. He regretted he became a soldier because of the carnage of that horrible war, that hurt everyone. A devastated South was not a happy place for anyone, and all of the South has suffered from it except for the opportunists who continue today in their efforts to divide and destroy our nation. The monuments are for the loss for us all, and a reminder that we should be wary in how easily those who take over our institutions can lead us down anti-American paths we would never choose if we are of good and honest heart, loving America.

Removing the statues does not change history. Leave them alone.

Taking down this monument serves no positive purpose. It is our history. The mayor is inviting a controversy, unwanted by a majority of the citizens.

This is our history, it does not harm
Anyone. We need to keep our history
And honor the lives both black and white that fought in the war.

You can't learn from the past if you destroy our history . We have to have all of it not just what you pick and choose. We are a great nation because of our ability to know our past. History is doomed to repeat itself if we have nothing to reference and that means all of it needs to be told the good , the great ,the bad, and the ugly , just saying

My heritage is loyalty and courage, not hate. Hate is destruction and groundless accusations, like what Antifa's doing. If you want to know what Antifa's about, read Graham Greene's "The Destroyers."
