Indianola Police Sgt. For 28 years serving the citizens of Indianola & was very proud to where the uniform along with our current police patch & logo. I was on the committee on creating the current police patch and it gave pride to our Iowa American Natives

The native American has never been more respected than by a true Indianola Indian. Our community has also been honored to be known as the Indians. In case you have forgotten the Indians are the people who settled this area! We ARE INDIANS AND DAMM PROUD OF IT!!!!

I've talked to friends that are native Americans and a couple of family members and they are not offended by the Indainola Indains. That's our city pride and should not change. There are way more important things in our city to worry about.

It is only offensive to those who have no reason to be offended. I have Cherokee in my lineage and I feel it pays homage to us. Plus...why must we alter our history to appease a hand full of trouble makers when the masses do not want the change ?

Please do not let this happen!! Our name comes from pride, strength and is meant to honor not to disparage.

I was born and raised an Indianola INDIAN!!! Didn’t leave town until 2 years ago. My youngest son still lives there with his family. Letting people from out of town and who don’t know the history should have NO SAY whatsoever in town business. If they are offended then they can leave. We really do need a new city council.

Keep it. Someone will be offended with the new name as well, whatever that will be.

There is nothing derogatory about Indian pride!
