In favour of some of the new ideas - and look forward to seeing the pier develop. However, please do keep fishing from the pier and the bait shop. They support charities and add history and character to this marvellous structure.

Very sad that anyone can come along and even suggest this, no doubt fathers and sons have fished from this pier for donkeys years. Not only would this be a persons right lost, but more importantly a British tradition. Lets hope it stays how it is.

Rather than throw this man off the pier why not get a bit of publicity by sponsoring him with new fishing tackle to help teach local kids to enjoy real simple fun.

This us a part of Eastbournes history. It can not be allowed to be halted just because the fat cats want a bigger bank account!

These piers are national treasures and should be preserved as a part of our heritage, tourism and outdoor activities should be encouraged on them not stopped

Pier plans seem to be knee jerk with no long term sustainable strategy

These piers are national treasures and should be preserved as a part of our heritage and just a slower pace of life.. they are very nostalgic, which is nice to embrace at times.

To the present owner. Think of the history of Eastbourne and the Eastbourne Pier. This is not about business or money.

I am a Level 2 coach and we desperately need safe places to coach youngsters and older/infirm people so that they can develop their skills and confidence.

Used to go to Eastbourne with my parents in the early 80's. There was fishing on the pier then, why would anyone want to stop it?

Fishing is a long standing tradition on Eastbourne Pier, it is an ideal venue for youngsters learning the sport. It also brings in anglers from far afield, creating additional revenue for local businesses

As children, so many of us spent learnt to fish from the pier. Fishing from Eastbourne pier is part of the local heritage and should be preserved for future generations to enjoy.
