This is the church I was Baptist in & my family has been going to this church for decades. I've met some wonderful people here & it'll break my heart to see it close. please don't close The Holy Agony Church it's apart of us. I

My family and I have been attending Holy Agony since 1969, this is the year that we arrived to New York from Puerto Rico, 46 years ago. Holy Agony was the first church that received us with open arms, where you felt comfortable, where members are treated as family. All my family have done the sacraments at Holy Agony church. I’ve seen how all these ccd teachers take the time to prepared these children to receive the sacraments without any obligation and they do it with so much love. I see how happy these kids come to church for the catechism classes. I see how all these Seniors come to Holy Agony where they have grown old, most important because for them it’s easier because they don’t have to struggle going up too many stairs and because of the wheelchair access. My mother is 85years old and for her to walk to any of the other churches is hard cause she can’t walk too far especially when she has to go down and up the hill at 102nd street and Lexington. When I see all these seniors and my mother going to church with such a happy smile and just the thought of thinking that Holy Agony will close makes me want to cry. I remember my mother saying that when her time comes that she would like her wake to be at Holy Agony where all her family can come and say goodbye to her, where she would feel at peace with the priests and the people that she loves and grew old with as a big happy family. I know is gonna break her heart if Holy Agony Church closes. Some people might think that Holy Agony is a poor and simple church but for the majority of us Holy Agony is Rich in Love. For the sake of all Holy Agony Church family PLEASE don’t close their doors.
