I have been part of the Holy Agony community since 1997, when I lived on 99th Street and 3rd Avenue in East Harlem. Since then, I began to sing on the 11:00AM mass in Spanish voluntarely. My personal and spiritual experience at Holy Agony is extense. The sense of compassion and caring from the priests to my fellow parishoner has been remarkable. We have been enriched bringing our religious traditions to our community. We just celebrated our 16th Annual Christmas Mass that last for 9 days starting on December 16th to 24th. Every year more people has woke up early in the morning to worship and sing christmas carols All in honornig our beloved Sacred Family. Also, in Holy Agony Chuch began a unique spiritual journey named "THE PASSION" in which young and adults montage Jesus Trials, Death and Resurrection. We have traveled to other Parish in Manhattan, The Bronx and Queens to bring the drama to our Latinos' communities. The talent's personal testimonies of spiritual meaning are diverse. Actually, I live in the Bronx and still traveling to 101st St. and 3rd Avenue on Sundays to attend mass. I am a disabled Social Work students inspired by the Life of Jesus, and the church saints that follow his teaching. I will be more than glad to continue working for all our community members and newcomers in finding a warm place to worship God. I appeal to your hearts and minds in keeping our Church open to all those immigrants like me. Because we are not only has come to America looking for a better future. We are also here to find Jesus, Our Savior in the Church that he found it for all of us, our Roman Catholic Chuch.

This church has been like a second home. I was baptized there grandkids as well. It has played a major role in my faith.

Please keep this historical beautiful and blessed building and parish of God open so it can continue to serve the people of El Barrio. God bless

My name is Mr. Noel Cordero. I presently reside in East Harlem and was Baptized, and did all my Sacraments at the Roman Catholic Church of the Holy Agony. Holy Agony Church is a close knit, family oriented parish which serves the Spanish speaking community of East Harlem since its founding in the early 1950's, There is no reason this vibrant, well attended (pews are filled with parish members on every mas every Sunday, and it has a well attended 9:00AM, and 7:15PM Mass Mondays-Saturdays as well) parish should close. The parish as well is not in any form of monetary debt.

It will be so sad to see this parish close, is not fair for the people, is not fair for our Church and im sure our Pope wont like it, we need to find ways to keep our churches open
