Tearing down the Columbus monument would be a travesty. Anyone who thinks it is the right thing to do should buy a history book.

As an Polish Italian American second generation born. I request that you not go down in history as the Mayor that gave into terroristic demands to remove the statue. Let us make a stand in this country that we are a community that embraces our history. We learn from our mistakes and accomplishments from the past with these statues as a constant reminder. Let us not forget so that we can focus on how we need to grow.
