How can anyone believe that erasing our history is necessary or improves anything? Absolutely ridiculous!

He opened up the "New World". How about looking up the REAL facts on Christopher Columbus! In fact, it was the British who colonized America by taking land away from the Indians. They also sold slaves to the South. Wanting to remove his monument and renaming Columbus Day is the REAL proof as to what nationality is being discriminated.

He discovered America way before the slaves came here. They should blame their home country of Africa. They are the culprits. The Italians like the Itish were discriminated too.

As one born to italian immigrants which settled in Syracuse and loved this countries welcoming policies, i can image how disappointed they would be with all the events about the Statue of Columbus and the direction this country is going.

Columbus is a significant figure in The America's history and the charges against him in the effort to erase that are specious at best.

I tried doing this myself but had no luck. This statue means a lot to the Italians and if your going to call the Northside Little Italy then has some respect for the Italians
