That statue is a symbol of Italian immigrants and their history here in CNY. Please leave it standing.

Close friend’s family members did all the stonework for the monument. This is a sentimental Part of our heritage & memorializes our history. This PC political pandering needs to stop.

How many native Americans were killed by native Americans in tribal wars? Let’s try them for war crimes and take away their casinos.

Preserve our history - all of it. Any changes to public monuments and statutes must require public vote. Before it’s too late.

It's a beautiful statue commemorating the achievements of a man who beat the odds. A story that should be taught in school to inspire our children that they can do hard things and that even our "mistakes" can have positive outcomes.

I normally don't subscribe to 'hyphenating' people's nationalities. But, as an Italian-AMERICAN I will make an exception in this one case and sign this ! God bless America .

Italians also suffered coming into this country. They were treated with disrespect and hatred. They came here to start a new life and their goal was to work hard to make a better life for them and their children. They faced hardships and were not considered for jobs they desperately wanted and needed. All immigrants from all over Europe suffered discrimination. Sadly this is what is not understood today by those who want to destroy our country. Stop the madness NOW!

Christopher Columbus was an explorer seeking a new pathway to Asia. He never knew he had "discovered" a new land. To lay all the ills of society on the head of one man is so very wrong! To honor one who is adventurous and seeking a "good outcome" and see how our nation's history books and some leaders have maligned his memory is a testament to the times of re-writing the American History. What can we expect - in the early 1990's, I read a NYS History curriculum written by PhD.'s that used the "English" and the "European" as if these terms meant the same thing. I asked my instructor, "Don't these people know that England is a subset of Europe and there are many cultures on that Continent. Mu grandfather would be so upset if he was put in the same category as an Englishman." Fortunately, my professor was of Italian descent and understood what I was saying.
