The Syracuse Columbus Monument is a magnificent work of art and truly an important showpiece for Downtown. Its reflection of the pride and heritage of all Immigrants, not just Italians and their lineage, is undeniable. The Columbus Monument is also a symbol of hope to everyone: for pursuit of economic opportunity and prosperity, religious freedom, and a better life.

Columbus and his crew were the greatest and bravest explorers in history.
They landed in the Bahamas, over 1,000 miles away from Central New York. They had nothing to do with the native folks up here.
